Ribbon Embroidery Carnation Flower Technique
This will be my 3. tutorial in my Ribbon Embroidery Stitching Techniques writing series. As you know previously I showed you step by step tutorials for making Sunflower and Star Rose ribbon stitches. And it was pretty hard for me to create this tutorial also, as managing pictures and writing clear instructions are much harder than making ribbon stitch’s itself :) so please support me with your feedbacks. In my blog’s turkish language section, I had shared cool a quote from a passage about carnation flower but my english is not enough well to translate it in english, sorry :)
Now let’s go on for the steps required for our ribbon technique. Btw, you will find descriptions on images in turkish language which i created for my lovely turkish readers. sorry that it will be hard to re-upload images for english also. It will take too much time. Hope you understand me :)
Materials Required for Ribbon Embroidery Carnation Flower Technique
- 30cm pink carnation ribbon
- 15cm green carnation ribbon
- Needle
- Threads that will suite with ribbons
- Pink carnation beads
- Embroidery hoop
- Fabric
Step by step Carnation Ribbon Stitch
In our carnation ribbon stitch steps, first stitch along the selvedge as you see in the first picture
When your stitching is complete, bring thread up and gather the ribbon slightly.
Then fold your ribbon 3 times that tips of ribbon will be in inside.
And sew your ribbon’s bottom as seen in picture.
and we finally completed flower of our carnation
To make carnation’s twisted leave, stich along the salvadge on satin part of ribbon.
After completing your stitching along salvadge, similarly with some distance to salvadge, make stichtings along the ribbon as you see in picture.
Then gather your ribbon slightly and in order not to open sew the gatherings.
First mount your flower to the fabric
And bend your edges of twisted leaf into inside.
And mount your leaf on fabric under flower as you see in picture.
If you desire you can add beads on flower.
